How to Renew Your Ohio Real Estate License

Ohio Salespersons and Brokers must renew their real estate license every 3 years. Your renewal is tied to your birth date, and all requirements must be completed before your expiration date.

To maintain an active license, you must complete your continuing education (CE) and submit your renewal through the eLicense LPI Portal on time.

Step 1: Complete the Required Continuing Education

Ohio requires 30 hours of continuing education every 3 years.

Your CE must include:

The remaining hours can be completed as electives.

All courses must be approved by the Ohio Division of Real Estate & Professional Licensing (REPL).

Special Situations

Step 2: Verify Your Course Completions

Course providers report CE completions to the Ohio eLicense LPI system.

Before renewing, log in to the eLicense LPI Portal and confirm your completed courses are listed. Not all courses may appear right away, and your CE will only be visible once you enter your 60-day renewal window.

If any courses are missing, you can enter the course information and upload your completion certificates during the renewal process.

Keep copies of your CE certificates for at least 6 years in case of an audit.

Step 3: Complete Your License Renewal

Ohio real estate licenses are renewed online through the Ohio eLicense LPI system using your OHID login.

To renew your license:

  1. Log in to your eLicense LPI Portal account using your OHID credentials
  2. From your dashboard, go to "My Licenses" and select "View" next to your license
  3. Click "Actions" and select "Renew" when your license is eligible
  4. Complete the renewal application and required questions
  5. Enter or verify your CE credits and upload certificates if needed
  6. Pay the renewal fee and submit your application

After submitting, your renewal will be reviewed, and you will receive a confirmation email once your license has been renewed.
