Salespersons, Broker-Salespersons, and Brokers must take at least 6 hours of Core topics, with the remaining number of continuing education credits in either additional Core topics or Elective topics.

New Jersey real estate Salespersons, Salesperson Referral Agents, and Brokers must renew their licenses every two years. The current license expiration date is June 30, 2027, for all active licenses.
To maintain an active license, you must complete your continuing education (CE) by April 30 to avoid late fees, submit your portion of the renewal, and ensure your Broker of Record completes the renewal before your license expires.

Excess core credits may count toward elective requirements, but elective credits cannot replace required core topics.
All courses must be approved by the New Jersey Real Estate Commission (NJREC) and completed within the current renewal cycle.
Important: Licensees who complete CE between May 1 and June 30 of the renewal year may still renew an active license, but the NJREC will impose a $200 late CE fee. CE must be completed and reported before beginning renewal. Waiting until late June may delay your ability to renew on time.

New Jersey uses the PSI Continuing Education Portal to track CE credits.
Course providers report your completed courses, typically within 1–2 business days, though processing times may increase during peak renewal periods. Log in to your NJREC PSI account to confirm your credits have been reported before beginning renewal.

New Jersey real estate licenses are renewed online through the NJREC Online Licensing Services system, with final approval completed by your Broker of Record.
