Michigan real estate Salespersons and Brokers must complete continuing education (CE) requirements every three years. Education must be complete before a license can be renewed. Licenses expire based on the original issue date. Education must consist of:

How to Renew Your Michigan Real Estate License

  1. Complete Required CE:
    • Finish all 18 hours of CE, including the annual minimums and required categories.
    • Course credits will be automatically reported by your school.
  2. Verify Course Completions:
    • Log in to your CE Marketplace account to confirm your completed hours and required categories.
    • Records are typically reported within 24-48 hours of completing a course.
  3. Renew Online via MiPLUS:
    • Go to the MiPLUS portal.
    • Log in, select your license, and follow the prompts to renew.
    • Update any required information, verify your employing broker, and pay the renewal fee.
    • Save or print your confirmation after submitting your renewal.

How do I know what CE I need right now?
Log in to your CE Marketplace account to view your completed courses and remaining requirements.
Can I complete all my CE in one day?
Yes, there is no daily limit on CE hours in Michigan.
What if I miss CE in a previous year?
Make up the missed hours as soon as possible. For example, if you missed a year, complete at least 4 hours of Legal and 2 hours of Fair Housing to catch up.
Where do I renew my license?
All license renewals are processed online through the MiPLUS system, not CE Marketplace.
What happens if my license expires?
You have 60 days to renew with a late fee. After 60 days, contact LARA for further instructions.
