Tennessee Real Estate Continuing Education Info

Tennessee requires 16 hours of continuing education every two years for license renewal. Affiliate Brokers and Brokers must complete a 6-hour Tennessee Core Course and 10 hours of elective course topics. Brokers renewing their license for the first time must complete 120 hours of post-licensure education, including the 6-hour mandatory Core Course. All CE may be completed anytime within the 2-year license term before license renewal.

How to Renew Your Tennessee Real Estate License

Tennessee real estate Brokers and Affiliate Brokers renew their license every 2 years through the Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance's TN CORE system. To renew, you must complete your continuing education (CE) and submit your renewal before your license expires.

Step 1: Complete the Required Continuing Education

Tennessee requires 16 hours of CE every 2 years.

Your CE must include:

If this is your first renewal as a licensed real estate broker, you must complete 120 hours of post-licensing education within the first 3 years of broker license approval. After renewing a broker license for the first time, the next broker renewal cycle requires the standard 16 hours of course credits.

Step 2: Verify Your Course Completions

Course providers report your completed courses to the CE Broker platform, which typically appear within 24 to 28 hours. Providers have up to 10 days to upload completion rosters to CE Broker. Log in to your CE Broker account and review your course history to confirm your credits have been reported correctly before renewing.

Step 3: Complete Your License Renewal

  1. Log in to your TN CORE account
  2. Select "Renew" from the Quick Actions menu
  3. Select or resume the renewal transaction you wish to submit
  4. Review the introduction statement and personal information
  5. Attach any requested documents
  6. Complete the renewal application
  7. Review your application summary
  8. Pay the renewal fee and submit your application

After submitting, you will receive a confirmation email, and your license will be updated in the system.

Renewal Fees

Renewal fees are paid through the TN CORE system at the time of application submission. The standard renewal fee is $75 for Affiliate Brokers and Brokers.
