North Dakota requires 16 hours of continuing education before November 15 each year. Salespersons, broker associates, and brokers must complete their CE requirements and then submit their license renewal applications online with the North Dakota Real Estate Commission. Licenses that are not renewed on time will expire on December 31.

North Dakota real estate Salespersons, Broker Associates, and Brokers renew their licenses annually. All licenses expire December 31. To renew as active, complete the required continuing education (CE) and submit your license renewal before the deadline.
North Dakota resident Salespersons, Broker Associates, and Brokers must complete 12 hours of continuing education beginning November 16 until November 15 of the following year.
There are no mandatory topic hours or courses for the 2026 CE cycle.
North Dakota accepts CE courses approved by the North Dakota Real Estate Commission (NDREC) as well as courses approved by other state real estate commissions.
Important: Complete all required CE by November 15. There is no grace period for completing CE. If you do not complete your CE by the deadline, you must renew as inactive to avoid potential disciplinary action.
Before beginning your renewal, download and save your OnlineEd completion certificates for all required CE. NDREC does not track or maintain your CE records, so keep your certificates as proof of completion.
North Dakota real estate licenses are renewed online through the North Dakota Real Estate Commission.
