Course Description

Design for Every Life takes a comprehensive look at how thoughtful property modifications can support residents of all ages, abilities, and life situations.

The course starts with accessibility modifications; covering everything from aging in place and independence to legal regulations like the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) and Fair Housing Act. Learners explore types of modifications that enhance mobility, usability, and safety, supported by innovative tech and practical planning tools. Subsequent modules expand on safety and inclusivity with focused sections on childproofing homes and accommodating pets.

Course Topics

This course covers the following topics:

Unit 1: Accessibility Modifications. Whether you’re looking to help a client stay in their beloved home as they get older, what we call "Aging in Place", or you're interested in the latest regulations and planning strategies, we’ve got you covered. We'll start by breaking down why these changes matter, then walk through the specific types of modifications and how to actually get them implemented.

Unit 2: Childproofing the Home. Safety is about more than just keeping an eye out; it’s about creating an environment where kids can explore without constant risk. We’ll walk through how to identify hazards that change as kids grow, the real benefits of proactive proofing, and the most effective safety measures you can implement right away. We'll also wrap up with how to maintain these setups so they actually stay effective over time.

Unit 3:  Pet Friendly Setups. As any pet owner knows, our animals have a major influence on how we use our living spaces. We’ll explore the different factors that drive these modifications, the many benefits of creating a pet-friendly environment (for both you and your furry friends!), and the most common setups people use today. Finally, we’ll go over the best ways to get these changes implemented smoothly.

Completion Requirements. Continuing education credit is awarded upon successful completion of all required course components and satisfaction of regulatory active time requirements.

Stay Active in the Course. The course platform electronically monitors active participation. Time tracking will pause during periods of inactivity. You may exit and return to the course at any time. Your progress will be saved.

Active Time Requirements. CE courses require minimum seat time for course completion. If you complete the instructional material early, you must remain actively logged in until the required time has elapsed before credit can be awarded.  The state regulator recognizes a 50-minute clock hour – accounting for 10 minutes of break time every hour – so you must spend at least 2 hours and 30 minutes in this course.

You’ll have a far better experience if you read the materials and don’t attempt to rush through.

Assessments

Each unit will end in a multiple-choice quiz to test your knowledge. Quizzes require a score of at least 70% to proceed to the next unit. You can take quizzes as many times as needed.

According to your state regulators, completion of the course does not require passing a final exam. There is no final exam at the end of the final unit of this course.

Course Description

The course emphasizes that the standards of ethical conduct in the practice of real estate are based upon the National Association of Realtors® Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice and upon federal and state laws governing conduct applicable to the practice of real estate. The concept of misrepresentation and all of its implications to the daily practice of real estate is discussed in detail. This course is an article-by-article dissection of the Code of Ethics, organized in three major topic areas:

1. The licensee's ethical conduct with respect to clients and customers
2. The licensee's duty to the public
3. The licensee's duties to fellow Realtors®

A detailed discussion of specific ethical conduct under each of these three general categories will give the licensee an excellent basis upon which to conduct an ethical practice of real estate.

NAR members are required to complete 2.5 hours of Ethics training every renewal period. This course qualifies towards NAR membership renewal.
