How to Renew Your New Mexico Real Estate License

New Mexico Associate Brokers and Qualifying Brokers must renew their licenses every three years on the last day of the month following their birth month.

To maintain an active license, you must complete your continuing education (CE), ensure your courses are reported, and submit your renewal before your license expiration date.

Step 1: Complete the Required Continuing Education

Associate Brokers must complete 36 hours of CE every 3 years:

Qualifying Brokers must complete 42 hours of CE every 3 years:

All courses must be approved by the New Mexico Real Estate Commission (NMREC).

Step 2: Verify Your Course Completions

All course providers in New Mexico report completed courses to the New Mexico Real Estate Commission (NMREC).

Before renewing, log in to your NMPlus account and confirm that all of your continuing education credits have been posted. Courses are typically reported within 2 business days.

Step 3: Complete Your License Renewal

New Mexico real estate licenses are renewed online through the NMPlus system.

To renew your license:

  1. Log in to your NMPlus account
  2. Select “Apply for a License” at the top of the page and choose “Boards and Commissions Division”
  3. Select “Real Estate Commission” from the list of boards and commissions
  4. Choose the renewal application that matches your license type
  5. Complete the application and upload any required documents if prompted
  6. Pay the renewal fee and submit your application

After submitting, your renewal will be processed through NMPlus.
