Continuing Education Requirements

Minnesota real estate Salespersons and Brokers must renew their licenses every two years by June 30, based on the year their license was issued (even or odd year cycle). To renew, you must complete your continuing education (CE) and ensure your license is renewed before the expiration date.

Step 1: Complete the Required Continuing Education

Minnesota requires 30 hours of CE every two-year renewal cycle, including 15 hours completed before June 30 each year.

Salesperson and Broker licensees must complete:

All courses must be approved by the Minnesota Department of Commerce and completed within the current license period. CE does not carry over, and courses may not be repeated for credit.

Commercial-only Salespersons and Brokers may be exempt from Agency Law, Fair Housing, and the Annual Required Module if their status is properly filed with the state, but they must still complete the required CE hours.

Important: Complete your CE before June 30 each year. Because renewal is completed through your Primary Broker, finish your courses early to allow time for reporting and renewal processing.

Step 2: Verify Your Course Completions

Minnesota uses the Pulse Portal system to track continuing education.

Course providers report your completed courses, and they will appear in your account shortly after reporting.

Log in to your Pulse Portal account and review your transcript to confirm all completed courses and total hours are accurate before renewal. If needed, check additional transcript pages for all completions and keep your certificates for your records.

Step 3: Complete Your License Renewal

Minnesota real estate licenses are renewed online through the Pulse Portal as part of the Mass License Renewal process.

In Minnesota, your Primary Broker is responsible for renewing your license as part of the company’s renewal submission.

To complete your renewal:

  1. Confirm your CE is complete and reported in Pulse Portal.
  2. Verify your license information is accurate.
  3. Coordinate with your Primary Broker to ensure your license is included in the renewal.

All renewals must be submitted by 11:59 PM CT on June 30. If your license is not included in your broke's renewal, it will not remain active.

Renewal Fees

Renewal fees are paid through the Pulse Portal at the time of renewal submission.
