The short-term rental industry has grown into a significant segment of the real estate and travel market. Worldwide, the STR market was estimated at $135 billion in 2024 and continues to expand despite recent shifts. The market is projected to reach $149 billion in 2025, reflecting ~10% annual growth as traveler demand for unique, home-like accommodations rises, and $400 billion by 2035.
But success in this space goes far beyond buying a cute cabin or condo. It starts with a deep understanding of market conditions, legal landscapes, guest expectations, and location-specific factors that can make or break a property's performance.
This 3 credit-hour course will help you build that foundation. You’ll learn how to evaluate STR markets with data-driven tools, spot red flags that others might miss, and advise clients on where (and where not) to invest. We’ll explore how tourism patterns, local laws, accessibility, competition, and even seasonal demand impact income and risk.
The course is divided into five sections. A review quiz of five questions follows each chapter. A quiz score of 75% or greater is required prior to being allowed to proceed to the next section.
