How to Renew Your Oklahoma Real Estate License

Oklahoma real estate Sales Associates, Broker Associates, and Brokers renew their licenses every 3 years through the Oklahoma Real Estate Commission (OREC) License Portal. To renew, you must complete the required continuing education (CE) and submit your renewal before your license expires.

Step 1: Complete the Required Continuing Education

All Oklahoma Resident licensees must complete 30 hours of CE every 3 years.

Resident Sales Associates and Broker Associates must complete:

• 6 hours in Contracts and Forms
• 3 hours in Professional Conduct
• 1 hour in Broker Relationships Act
• 1 hour in Code and Rules
• 1 hour in Fair Housing
• 1 hour in Hot Topic
• 17 hours of approved elective courses

Resident Brokers must complete:

• 15-hour Broker-in-Charge course
• 6 hours in Contracts and Forms
• 9 hours of approved elective courses

Non-Resident Licensees must complete 8 hours of CE:

• 6 hours in Contracts and Forms
• 1 hour in Broker Relationships Act
• 1 hour in Code and Rules

Inactive licensees are not required to complete continuing education for renewal.

Important: Continuing education must be completed and submitted before midnight on your license expiration date.

Step 2: Verify Your Course Completions

The Oklahoma Real Estate Commission tracks continuing education through the OREC License Portal.

Course providers report your completed courses. If your continuing education is not listed, you must submit proof of completion through the License Portal. Log in to the License Portal to confirm your continuing education has been reported before renewing your license.

Step 3: Complete Your License Renewal

Oklahoma real estate licenses are renewed online through the OREC License Portal.

To renew your license:

1. Log in to the License Portal
2. Select "License Renewal" (available 60 days before your expiration date)
3. Click "Renew"
4. Confirm your personal information
5. Verify your continuing education. If any courses are missing, you must upload them through the License Portal.
6. Answer the declaration questions
7. Review fees, submit payment, and finalize your renewal

After submitting, your licensure documents and public registry information will be updated to reflect your new expiration date.

Additional Tips

• Renewal Timing: You must complete your CE and submit your renewal before midnight on your license expiration date, which occurs on the last day of your renewal month every three years.
• CE Timing: Complete your CE early to allow time for reporting and submission before your renewal deadline.
• Late Renewal: If you miss your renewal deadline, your license will go into Lapsed status. You may renew within one year through the License Portal with additional fees. If lapsed for more than one year, reinstatement is required, and after three years, you must reapply for licensure.
• Inactive Licenses: Inactive licensees must still renew every three years but are not required to complete continuing education unless returning to active status.
• License Status: You can check your license status and expiration date using the OREC License Portal or Public Registry.
• Provisional Sales Associates: Provisional Sales Associate licenses are a one-time, non-renewable license valid for one year. Instead of completing continuing education, you must complete the required 45-hour post-license course before your license expires to upgrade to a standard license.
• NAR Courses: National Association of Realtors (NAR) courses may count toward your CE requirements only if the course is approved by OREC.
