How to Renew Your Montana Real Estate License

Montana real estate Salespersons, Brokers, and Property Managers renew their licenses annually through the Montana eBiz Licensing Portal. The licensing year runs from November 1 through October 31. To renew, complete the required continuing education (CE) and submit your renewal before the annual deadline.

Step 1: Complete the Required Continuing Education

Most active Montana licensees must complete 12 hours of CE each licensing year.

Salespersons and Brokers must complete:

Supervising Brokers must complete:

Property Managers must complete:

Special Situations

Montana accepts ARELLO-certified courses for Salesperson and Broker CE. Property Manager CE must be relevant to the property management profession. Montana does not issue provider numbers.

Important: Complete your CE during the current licensing year, from November 1 through October 31. Hours cannot be carried over to another licensing year.

Step 2: Verify Your Course Completions

Before beginning your renewal, download and save your OnlineEd completion certificates for all required CE. Because Montana does not receive course completion reports from education providers, you will self-certify your CE completion on the renewal application and must retain your certificates in case you are selected for an audit.

Step 3: Complete Your License Renewal

Montana real estate licenses are renewed online through the Montana eBiz Licensing Portal.

To renew your license:

  1. Go to the Montana eBiz Licensing Portal and log in to your account.
  2. Click the blue “Renew License” button in your license record.
  3. Answer all renewal questions and click “Continue Application.”
  4. Upload any required documentation and click “Continue Application.”
  5. Review your information and click “Continue Application.”
  6. Review the renewal fees and enter your payment information.
  7. Submit your renewal and save the confirmation for your records.

After your renewal is processed, use the Montana Licensee Lookup System to confirm that your license status and expiration date have been updated. Montana identifies this system as its primary source for verifying license credentials.
