Course Goals

This course is designed to equip licensed real estate brokers and salespersons with essential knowledge about the appraisal and valuation of real property. Property valuation is the cornerstone of every real estate transaction, yet it remains one of the most misunderstood aspects of the industry. Whether you are listing a seller's most valuable asset, guiding a buyer through their largest financial commitment, or navigating mortgage underwriting, your ability to anticipate appraisal outcomes directly impacts your clients' success and your professional reputation.

This course will address the following topics.

  • Chapter 1: Basic Appraisal Concepts and the Appraiser's Role in Real Estate Transactions
  • Chapter 2: Elements, Principles, and Practices of Real Estate Valuation
  • Chapter 3: Property-Specific Conditions; USPAP Ethics and Anti-Discrimination Updates

At the end of the course, the students should be able to:

  • Master fundamental concepts that drive property values

  • Explain common approaches to valuation used by appraisers

  • Identify federal regulations that govern appraisal practice

  • Communicate valuation concepts effectively to clients

Course Materials

This 4-hour online course includes reading material, polls, and short quizzes at the end of each chapter. Students must pass each activity in order to progress through the course. Failing to earn an 80% passing score requires the student to enroll in the course again (FAC 61J2-3.009(4)(a)). Re-enrollment is free.

A Notice of Satisfactory Course Completion Record is available after passing the final exam and completing a course feedback survey. The successful completion record will be electronically uploaded to the Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) within 48 hours. Licensees can verify their continuing education records by using the DBPR's online services website, myfloridalicense.com
