How To Renew Your Nebraska Real Estate License
The Nebraska Real Estate Commission manages the continuing education requirements for real estate licensees. The Commission requests that licensees need to complete 12 hours of continuing education credits every 2 years. Three of the 12 hours must be in mandatory courses while the remaining 9 are in elective courses. Mandatory courses are marked with an "R" on their course id numbers.
Additionally, the same elective course will not be counted towards CE credit if a licensee takes the same course in 2 consecutive license renewal periods. The mandatory courses are an exception, and licensees can take a duplicate mandatory course in 2 consecutive license renewal periods, but not in the same license renewal period.
After a for-credit CE course has been completed, licensees will receive course completion certificates. These certificates must be included in the license renewal application. It is recommended that you also keep a copy of these certificates for your personal records.
Nebraska licensees will receive a personalized renewal application in the mail a few months before their license expiration date . The REC does have generic versions of the applications available on their web site:
- Active Nebraska Salesperson license renewal form
- Active "Designating" or "Employing" Broker license renewal form
