How to Renew Your South Carolina Real Estate License

South Carolina real estate Associates, Brokers, and Brokers-in-Charge must renew their licenses every two years by June 30. To renew, you must complete your continuing education (CE) and submit your renewal before your license expires.

Step 1: Complete the Required Continuing Education

South Carolina requires 10 hours of CE every renewal cycle.

Associate and Broker licensees must complete:

• 4-hour mandatory SC Core course: SC Core (24-26) Legal Hot Tips
• 6 hours of elective courses

Broker-in-Charge (BIC) licensees must complete:

• 4-hour Core course for a broker or associate license
• 4-hour advanced real estate topics designed for brokers-in-charge

Licensees may carry over up to 4 hours of elective CE to the next renewal period.

All courses must be approved by the South Carolina Real Estate Commission (SCREC).

Nonresident licensees must complete South Carolina CE and cannot use CE from another state.

Important: All continuing education must be completed before June 30. Be sure to complete your courses early to allow time for reporting before you renew your license.

Step 2: Verify Your Course Completions

All course providers in South Carolina are required to report completed courses to CE Broker.

Log in to your CE Broker account to verify your continuing education has been reported before renewing your license.

Step 3: Complete Your License Renewal

South Carolina real estate licenses are renewed online through the SCLLR eServices portal.

To complete your license renewal, log into the SCLLR eServices online portal.

After submitting, you will receive confirmation of your renewal. You will also be able to print or download your license card as a PDF.

Renewal Fees

Renewal fees are paid through the SCLLR eServices portal at the time of application submission.

• Associate renewal fee: $45
• Broker/Property Manager renewal fee: $55
• Broker-in-Charge/Property Manager-in-Charge renewal fee: $75 per office

Additional Tips

• Renewal Timing: All licenses expire on June 30 every two years. You must renew before your expiration date to maintain active status.
• CE Timing: All continuing education must be completed before June 30. Complete your courses in time for providers to report your completions to CE Broker so you can verify them before renewing your license.
• Expired License: You may not engage in real estate activities after your license expires.
• Late Renewal: A late fee of $15 per month applies beginning July 1 through December 31. After December 31, you must reapply for licensure.
• License Status: You can check your license status through the SCLLR eServices portal, or you can look up your license in the public licensee lookup site.
• First Renewal: CE requirements for your first renewal are the same as all subsequent renewals.
• Physical License Copy: You can request a physical copy of your license card by emailing Contact.REC@llr.sc.gov. The first request is free; additional copies cost $10.
