Continuing Education Requirements
Michigan real estate Salespersons and Brokers must complete continuing education (CE) requirements every three years. Education must be complete before a license can be renewed. Licenses expire based on the original issue date. Education must consist of:
- 18 total credit hours per 3 year cycle
- Minimum 3 credit hours per year
- Required topics each year: 2 hours of Legal, 1 hour of Fair Housing
- All courses must be approved by the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA)
How to Renew Your Michigan Real Estate License

Complete Required CE:
- Finish all 18 hours of CE, including the annual minimums and required categories.
- Course credits will be automatically reported by your school.

- Log in to your CE Marketplace account to confirm your completed hours and required categories.
- Records are typically reported within 24-48 hours of completing a course.

Renew Online via MiPLUS:
- Go to the MiPLUS portal.
- Log in, select your license, and follow the prompts to renew.
- Update any required information, verify your employing broker, and pay the renewal fee.
- Save or print your confirmation after submitting your renewal.

Fees are paid online through the MiPLUS system at the time of renewal.
