As of January 2025, new laws expand ADU development options within these zones, distinguishing between multifamily zoning and multifamily properties. Senate Bill 1221 (SB1221) allows for various ADU types, including Junior ADUs (JADUs), conversions, and detached or attached units, each with unique advantages, costs, and local jurisdictional considerations.
This 90-minute online course, delivered live on May 2, 2025, discusses key zoning regulations, such as overlays, height limits, density restrictions, and setbacks influencing ADU feasibility alongside due diligence on easements and infrastructure. Learn to evaluate crucial infrastructure, such as utility hookups, power access, sewer and septic capacity, and water availability as each can present challenges. Determine how to weigh risks, ensure the highest and best use of the property, and navigate capital-raising strategies while avoiding common pitfalls.
