This course will provide an overview of the history of fair housing laws, discuss the basics of following the law, outline specific additional protections in local Missouri, discuss scenarios, provide tools on rental fair housing, and approaches to addressing bias. Qualifies for NAR mandate for all REALTORS® to acquire at least 2 hours of continuous Fair Housing training every three years.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this course, students will be able to:

  • Explain the importance of fair housing laws
  • Describe the federal and state history of fair housing
  • Identify the federal fair housing laws with specific protected classes
  • Illustrate discriminatory actions and lasting impacts in Missouri
  • Summarize the information shared in the video
  • Identify fair housing laws, protections, requirements, and additional protections in specific local areas
  • List the types of coverage and protected classes
  • Identify prohibited actions
  • Evaluate the proper processes for assistance animals and rental fair housing
  • Identify means to disrupt bias

Per Missouri Real Estate Commission (MREC) rules, you must be present during each component of the module. You can not step away and allow the video to play without your presence.

After completing all of the modules, you will be required to pass a final exam with at least a 70% passing grade to receive credit for completing NAR Cycle 8 Fair Housing requirements and to receive the Missouri CE credit. You have unlimited attempts to pass the final exam.

Issuance of Credit

You will receive a digital Missouri continuing education completion certificate (PDF) after the completion of this course. This certificate can be printed or kept digitally with your records.

The Missouri REALTORS® (MR) will upload your CE course completion record to the MREC within 10 days of course completion. You do not need to send the course completion certificate to MREC unless requested to by the commission.

This course complies with all guidelines provided by the National Association of REALTORS®.  However, official approval is determined by a state or local association of REALTORS®.  Please check with applicable authorities to determine whether this course satisfies your educational requirements.

The MR will update your NAR member profile within 10 days of course completion to reflect completing NAR Cycle 8 Fair Housing requirements. You may still want to share a copy of the certificate to your local association too.

This course will remain available to students for 365 days after enrollment.
