What do I need to get a real estate license?

Any person wishing to conduct professional real estate activity in Oregon must obtain a real estate license from the Oregon Real Estate Agency. The Real Estate Agency is the government agency responsible for licensing and the regulation of real estate and property management professionals. The application process has four parts:

  1. Education - Complete the OnlineEd Oregon state-approved pre-license course.
  2. Background Check - Once your enroll in the course, we will send your background check authorization form. You should complete and return the form to the Oregon Real Estate Agency as soon as possible. (Background checks can take up to six weeks to process.)
  3. State Licensing Exam - You must pass a state-proctored licensing examination, which will be administered by the state through an approved test provider. Testing centers are located throughout Oregon. Once you are enrolled in your course and have completed your background check, the agency will issue you a test center authorization number for scheduling your exam.
  4. License Application - You must submit the state-required licensing application to the Oregon Real Estate Agency for review and approval.
How long does the course take to complete?
The course satisfies the 150 hour requirement of the Oregon Real Estate Agency. Because the course is mastery-based and not time-monitored, students can work at their own pace. Some students may take more or less time than the course is rated for. Course access is available for 240 days (8 months) from enrollment. Extensions can be made available on request.

How is the course delivered?
The course is entirely online and is also available in printer friendly formats. Your learning materials, exams, and instructor support are all delivered through your web browser. What is a "personal instructor"?
Upon enrollment, you will be assigned a course instructor. You can contact your instructor if you need help understanding the material, have questions, or need help getting through the course. In addition, the instructor will review and (if necessary) comment on each quiz and final exam to assist you in understanding course concepts better.
What do I need to take the course?
If you can read this, you already have everything you need! The course is entirely web-based. You will be able to access your account from any computer with an internet connection. The OnlineEd system works will all major browsers and operating systems.
What is "exam prep"?
This a bonus course to help you study for the state licensing exam. It contains over 2000 questions likely to appear on the state exam that you can use to practice with. It also includes a state test simulator with the same number of multiple choice questions and the same time limits as the state test.
