What happens if I am traveling and at a different computer?

Your account and course materials can be accessed from any computer that has an Internet connection and an installed web browser.

How do I sign up?

You can register here right now or you can start shopping first. After shopping for the courses you need, click on the "Check Out" button to proceed to the account registration and payment process.

How long will registration take?

You just need to fill out the standard name, address, email address, and telephone number fields. After you fill out your information, you have immediate access to your account.

Which credit cards do you accept?

All major credit cards are accepted, including American Express (AMEX), Discover, Visa, and Mastercard (MC).

How long does my user name and/or password have to be?

You can use any combination or length you want. You can also change both after you have registered.

Why do I get a message saying "This page contains both secure and nonsecure items" when I check out?

When you click the Checkout button, you might see a message from your Web browser warning you that you are leaving a secure connection for a less secure one. This message is normal and easy to understand. When you sign in, we use a very secure connection to protect your personal information. However, when you resume shopping after this page, a normal connection is safe. Note also that some Web browsers do not display this kind of message.

Why do I have to give you all this personal information?

The information that you use during registration is printed on the certificates that are generated upon course completion, which are proof to the legal authorities that you have finished the necessary courses to establish a new license or renew your existing license. You must use real and valid information during registration in order to be recognized by your state.

How soon can I start after I have bought my course(s)?

Immediately. There is no enrollment period or waiting list which may delay your progress.

What happens after I buy the course(s)?

After buying a course you will be sent to your Student Home page, where you can begin to read the course text. You will also be emailed an enrollment confirmation for your records.

How long is each course?

Each course has a number of credit hours, which will give you a rough estimate on how long it will take to complete. You can see the number of credit hours on the Course Catalog page or when you are logged into your account on the Student Home page.

What is an Ed-Pak?

An educational package (Ed-Pak) is a collection of our best courses that you can purchase at a discounted price compared to buying the courses individually.

Do I have to complete my entire course in one sitting?

No. In fact, most courses allow you to take up to one year to finish. Your progress will be saved as you go.

Do I have to read the material?

You should read the course text before taking a quiz or final exam. The quizzes and course final exam is based off of the course material. The OnlineEd course texts are regularly adjusted for changes in laws, as are the test questions themselves.

Can you send me any books or CD's?

All of our course material is online. If you would like to print out the material and read it offline we offer both a "printer-friendly" and PDF version with every course. In some cases, the course is also available as a free downloadable Mp3 audio file for each chapter. Look for the "MP3 Audio Included" graphic next to the course title on the Course Catalog page.

The downloadable Mp3s can be played through most standard computer audio players. You may also upload them to your favorite Mp3 player for study on-the-go. The file size will vary depending on the length of the course text, usually between 2 MB and 15 MB for each Mp3.

How many questions are on a quiz or final exam?

Each course will typically have a different number of questions, depending on the context of the course material. You might have course with chapter quizzes that only contain 5 questions, or you might have one that has 20 or more. Final exams can have 30 or more questions.

What happens if I fail a quiz or final exam?

If you do not receive a passing grade on a test, you must try again until you receive the passing score or higher. You will need to review the chapter text and then take the test again. The course completion certificate will not be issued until you have completed all of the tests. Before taking each quiz and final, the OnlineEd site will inform you what the minimum passing score for your test will be.

How long do I have to wait before taking a final exam?

Usually you can take your final exam as soon as you complete all of the required chapter quizzes in a course, but there are some legal exceptions:

  • California - For those who are working on a Californian real estate license, the Department of Real Estate regulations require that you wait 24 hours from enrollment before completing a course. After that you may only complete 15 credit hours within any given 24 hour period.

How do I pass a quiz or final exam?

The minimum passing score will vary by each course and state, but normally the score will be between 60% and 75% correct. You will be informed of the current test's passing score before you start the exam.

What happens once I have completed a course?

If you are taking a continuing education course to renew your license, you can print out your certificate as soon as the course has been completed. If you are taking a new licensee course then the certificate will be be mailed to you.

Do you notify my state's licensing department or do I?

After the course completion certificate has been issued, you will have to contact your state's licensing department.

I waited until the last minute to renew my real estate license. Can I finish this in time?

The amount of time it takes to complete a course depends on the effort you put into it. Some courses are only a few credit hours long, which can be done in a day. California continuing education students may only complete 15 credit hours within any given 24 hour period (by California state law).
