Washington real estate brokers are required to take a minimum of 90 hours of continuing education when renewing their real estate license for the first time. This course, Washington Real Estate Law, is one of the 30-hour courses that licensees are required by the Washington Department of Licensing to complete at first renewal. 

This course will examine the various real estate laws that licensees are expected to know to practice real estate in a legal capacity. Students will be reminded what is meant by the unauthorized practice of law, and analyze the various legal laws that must be followed as outline by the Revised Code of Washington. Students will also be given a detailed explanation of contract and tort law to become better prepared when dealing with sensitive legal real estate issues such as contingencies and distressed properties.

Course Materials

The course contains approximately 30 hours of reading material, divided into 11 chapters. Each chapter has short quizzes throughout the chapter, with a quiz at the end to help enforce learning objectives, with a required score of 70% or higher to pass. The quiz may be attempted as many times as necessary in order to pass.

At the end of the course is a final exam. The exam presents 90 multiple-choice questions, does not have a time limit, and requires a passing score of 70% or higher. The final exam may be attempted as many times as necessary in order to pass, but a new set of 90 questions will be presented on each attempt. The final exam is not printable.
