Team Management for Brokers is intended to help brokers understand how to manage Teams to make their business more successful. The learner will understand the basic types of teams, their structure, and how to best manage them to reduce risk and increase profit.

The topics covered in this course are:

  1. Formation of a Team
  2. Advertising and Marketing
  3. The Broker vs. The Team Leader
  4. When an Agent Leaves a Team
  5. Risk Management

Course Objectives

After attending this course, students will be able to:

  • Describe the types of teams and how to manage them within the brokerage
  • Understand the structure of Teams and the DRE regulations that relate to them
  • Develop a marketing plan that involves social media and adheres to DRE rules of advertising
  • Describe the supervisory role of the broker for team members to remain in compliance

California Human Resource Law for Brokers/Teams

This is a non-credit course. Not for license renewals.

This course will go over the difference between employees and independent contractors along with situations that brokerages may be subject to employment laws, such as assistants and team relationship. The course then discusses the best practices, prohibited practices and other aspects of the interviewing and hiring processes.

How you will benefit from this course:

  • Gain a broad understanding of the legal framework governing the employment relationship in California
  • Describe rules and regulations governing employers with respect to compliance with the federal Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and similar California laws regarding minimum wage, rest periods, overtime, and paychecks

The New Broker's Benchmark: Prepare and Perform!

The New Broker's Benchmark: Prepare and Perform! is a video course series designed to provide information on suggested policies for your brokerage that will assist you in maintaining compliance with the Department of Real Estate.

There will be videos to watch on multiple pages, as well as interactive quizzes and reviews to ensure comprehension. A final exam will be required at the end of this course to signify completion.

In Part 1, Prepare, we'll review how to best prepare for yearly business planning and to adjust your plan throughout the year. This course will also cover components of the CA-RPA, CA-RLA an how to understand your financial statements. In this section you will be able to:

  • Identify the common organizational structures in real estate and how they might affect how you run your business;
  • Understand, how to set up or update an Office Policy Manual for your brokerage;
  • Explain valuable information, instruction, tools and techniques for running a real estate brokerage from an operational point of view;
