The course emphasizes that the standards of ethical conduct in the practice of real estate are based upon the National Association of Realtors® Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice and upon federal and state laws governing conduct applicable to the practice of real estate. The concept of misrepresentation and all of its implications to the daily practice of real estate is discussed in detail. This course is an article-by-article dissection of the Code of Ethics, organized in three major topic areas:

  1. The licensee's ethical conduct with respect to clients and customers
  2. The licensee's duty to the public
  3. The licensee's duties to fellow Realtors®

A detailed discussion of specific ethical conduct under each of these three general categories will give the licensee an excellent basis upon which to conduct an ethical practice of real estate.

NAR members are required to complete 2.5 hours of Ethics training every three years. This course qualifies towards your good membership standing with NAR. NAR members must now take an ethics course or training equivalency from a local, state, or national REALTOR® association to receive credit towards their Code of Ethics training requirement.

This course will address the following topics.

  • Segment 1: The Foundation for Ethics
  • Segment 2: Ethical Conduct
  • Segment 3: Prohibited Conduct With Respect to Clients and Customers
  • Segment 4: A Licensee's Duty to the Public
  • Segment 5: Duties to REALTORS®

Learning Objectives

At the end of the course, the student should be able to:

  • Identify specific problem areas that may lead to ethical violations.
  • Recognize and avoid ethical violations when working with clients, customers, the public, and other REALTORs

Course Progress and Completion

This 3-hour online course includes reading material, review videos, and short quizzes at the end of each chapter. Students must pass each activity in order to progress through the course. At the end of the course is a 10-question final exam that is not timed. Students have one attempt at the final exam. Failing to earn an 80% passing score requires the student to enroll in the course again (FAC 61J2-3.009(4)(a)). Re-enrollment is free.

A Notice of Satisfactory Course Completion Record is available immediately after passing the final exam. The successful completion record will be electronically uploaded to the Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) within 48 hours. Licensees can verify their continuing education records by using the DBPR's online services website, myfloridalicense.com

This course will remain available to students for 365 days after purchase.
