The Role of a REALTOR in Natural Disasters

This is a non-credit course. Not for license renewals.

Disaster-type events appear to be more and more common every year. This course is designed to help teach what REALTORS® can do to help prepare themselves, their families, clients, staff, team, and every other community they're a part of in a disaster scenario. In addition to preparedness, each type of disaster will be looked at to determine what REALTORS can do when disaster strikes to help themselves, their clients, others around them and their communities.

It's been observed that in the aftermath of various disasters communities band together to help one another. Neighbors who have often never spoken find themselves helping and sharing with each other. This course is designed so that real estate professionals can be prepared for a disaster scenario in both their personal life and in business so they know what part they can play if needed. The lessons and knowledge learned here can be passed along to clients and the community.

California disasters we will be looking at include:

  • Fire
  • Flooding
  • Earthquakes
  • Mudflows and landslides
  • Drought
  • Tsunamis
  • Civil disruption

This course will remain available to students for 365 days after enrollment.
