36% of Architectural Digest subscribers intend to acquire an additional home in the next 2 years.

Why Should You Become A Luxury Home Specialist?

  • A study by Architectural Digest and Sotheby’s International, Seeking a Luxury Lifestyle, discovers that one in three Architectural Digest subscribers (36%) intend to acquire a secondary/additional home in the next two years.
  • The Census Bureau’s American Community Survey found in 2014 that there are approximately 23 million households with $100,000+ income; almost 28% of the overall U.S. population.
  • The average listing price for an ALHS Designee is $1,023,800, nearly five times the median price of all U.S. homes.
  • The average annual closed sales volume for an ALHS Designee is over seven times that of a typical real estate agent.

How To Earn The ALHS Designation

Complete this online course to earn your Accredited Luxury Home Specialist designation. You will learn:

  • how to work with High-Net-Worth and Ultra-High-Net-Worth Individuals,
  • how to promote yourself as a specialist in the luxury home market, and
  • the best ways to show homes to a wealthy seller or list a luxury home on the real estate market.

ALHS candidates will need to be members of the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR), the Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA), or the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB). Candidates also need to be members of the Luxury Home Council. A one-year membership to the Luxury Home Council is included with the ALHS course.

After passing the course, your next task will be to complete the Achievement Verification Statement. The statement requires all ALHS candidates to practice their new skills by closing on two transactions where the purchase price is at least two times the average sales price in the candidate's real estate market. The closings must be within 24 months of finishing the course. Once you use your luxury home training to complete this requirement, and your principal or supervising broker confirms on the AVS that you have done so, you will earn the Accredited Luxury Home Specialist designation.
